Alexander Wang: The Rockie Bag
The first time this bag truly caught my attention was about 2 months ago. I was sitting on the steps of Trinity Church, eating chocolate rice pudding and sipping a thai basil limeade from Bon Me. I watched a couple approach the food truck and immediately felt outfit envy. The woman looked so casual and chic in her distressed denim shorts, perfectly crisp white blouse, and this Alexander Wang crossbody slung across her chest. The bag was black with gold hardware, but I was intrigued. I was familiar with the classic Rocco bag, seen on so many celebrities and fashion bloggers, but this bag was smaller and impressed me even more. After doing more research, I decided that my dream version of this bag would be the black leather with iridescent hardware. Unfortunately, with an $845 price tag I knew I would be saving my pennies for a while, until I stepped into Nordstrom Rack...
I frequently shop at Nordstrom Rack on Newbury Street- I became hooked on the Rack when I worked as an intern for Nordstrom last summer. On this particular outing I had to return a pair of shoes, but even if you're on a "return mission" you ALWAYS have to browse the new styles. I had a limited amount of time and decided to treasure hunt the handbags- BEST DECISION EVER. Nordstrom Rack seems to have an endless supply of Marc Jacobs handbags, but I rarely see other designer handbags hanging from this four-way fixture…however, there it was. Peering up at me was an Alexander Wang Rockie bag in rubberized black leather with iridescent studs on the bottom. I was immediately filled with excitement. Since I knew the retail price, I figured the bag was most likely priced 50% off and still too much... I reached for the price tag and saw $255 typed on the red sticker. I was stoked. I had found the exact color combo I had chosen and for 70% off!!! My week was made and a new bag joined my collection. What style steals have you found lately? Are you a Nordstrom Rack treasure hunter? If so, what's the best treasure you have scored? xoxo!
