Treasure Hunting for Gold
Location:SoWa Vintage Market (450 Harrison Ave, Boston) - This charming vintage market has everything from clothes to jewelry, knick knacks to furniture. It is neatly laid out by vendor and isn't so large that it's completely overwhelming. It took my mother and I about an hour to scour over all the #throwbackthursday items and I ended up walking away with this gold mirror for $15. The sofa table that it sits on above is temporary as I search for a gray dresser or white vanity... my bedroom is still in the design phase.
Location: Goodwill at 965 Commonwealth Ave, Boston - I've been visiting this location since I vacationed in Boston back in 2008. It's a relatively large location, especially for being in the city, and you'll probably need 3 hours or so to dig through everything (including clothes). I found these lamps (it's a set although only one is pictured above) when we lived in the Fenway - see here. I paid $7 for each and absolutely adore them: brass + burl wood + gold rimmed glass = perfection in my eyes.
Location: Stonehouse Antiques ( 244 Washington St, Norwell) - My mother and I randomly found this tiny antique store 2 weeks ago. We were treasure hunting in the South Shore (as mentioned in my last blog post) and I caught the storefront out of the corner of my eye. As soon as I saw tires, license plates, and picture frames piled as high as the building, I knew I had to venture inside. This location, although small, is stacked to the brim. It's a "pickers paradise" and I think this Google Review says it best: "From a decorative full size Egyptian sarcophagus to who knows what. What you want may be here, but it will be a bit of a hunt." I was on specific hunt for a dresser that day, but will probably be going back this weekend for that gold mirror.
