Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending CardioTapNYC's free class at Z Spot Studios on Mass Ave. I tap danced throughout middle school and high school. It was amazing to find tap when I was 11, since ballet and lyrical were never my expertise. I even taught tap when our high school performed Thoroughly Modern Millie as our spring musical. Over the past 5 years, I have greatly missed this part of my life. Before moving to Boston, I purged many items in order to fit into our studio apartment - one of these items were my tap shoes (they smelled awful…), but that didn't stop me from attending this fabulous class. Co-founder and teacher, Kristin Holland, recommended I wear any shoes without a rubber sole. I chose my leopard smoking slippers and off to class I went. The class was packed and the energy was fantastic. There were so many talented tappers in attendance. Kristin and Julia were absolute professionals and led the class with passionate personality and expertise. Their motto is "All Sweat. No Judgment." Both of these statements are true - it was quite a workout between high intensity cardio, such as triple time steps, and three sets of planks. The best part: I didn't even feel like I was working out. Now I'm hooked. I ordered tap shoes and attended my second class last week. This class is for beginners to expert tappers. You must try it! Classes are every Wednesday at 6:30pm - located at 181 Mass Ave. See you there! All above photos belong to CardioTapNYC.
